On The INNERview, you can meet HJ Lim, also known as Lim Hyun-jung, a talented pianist who was the first Korean to record Beethoven's complete piano sonatas, and who shot to the top of the Billboard and iTunes classical music charts. She began learning the piano at the age of 3 and departed for France on her own at the age of 12 to fulfill her dreams. She overcame the language barrier and racial discrimination and faced challenges and new paths which others do not take on. Her activities were different from other classical music performers. She performed Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee" at an encore recital in 2009. The video clip of this performance went viral online and the international audience began to zoom in on HJ Lim. In the following year, she decided to release Beethoven's complete piano sonatas, and she caused a sensation when she performed for eight straight days in Paris. In 2012, she was the youngest pianist to record Beethoven's complete piano sonatas with EMI. In addition, she came in 1st places on Billboard and iTunes classical music charts.
